Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao met with Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday in Mumbai to discuss the political environment.
Rao said that he wants to fight against injustice in the country. The two leaders discussed several issues during the meeting. Rao said that there is a need for structural changes in India. He will reportedly talk with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and other regional parties about this matter. Rao also met with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar.
The meeting took place to form a federal front against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Rao told reporters, “We want to fight against injustice and the misuse of laws.” He said that central agencies are being misused in a bad manner. He also said that he and Thackeray are like brothers. Reportedly, they will again meet in Hyderabad to discuss the future plan.
After the meeting, Rao said, “You will get to see a good result of our meeting.” He added, “We want to maintain this friendship with Maharashtra in the future.” Reportedly, Thackeray expressed concern over the political environment of the country. According to the Times of India, Thackeray said, “Our Hindutva is not about taking revenge.”
Shiv Sena MP Vinayak Raut said that the meeting between Rao and Thackeray was important for both parties. The Shiv Sena MP said that Shiv Sena will be at the forefront of a political revolution.
Days after giving a call to opposition parties to unite against the BJP, Rao took the decision to visit Mumbai. Recently, several regional leaders have spoken about the need for holding a political meeting to discuss a common strategy to defeat the BJP.
BJP took a dig at Thackeray. BJP leader Kirit Somaiya asked if the Shiv Sena leader took permission from Congress chief Sonia Gandhi before meeting KCR.
