Kavach: The Invisible Shield Making Indian Trains Faster And Safer

India’s Railways is doing everything it can to make sure you travel safely and quickly. One of the newest things they have come up with is called the Kavach system.

It’s a fancy way of saying “shield,” and that’s exactly what it does. It acts like a shield to protect the fastest trains from crashing into each other. This means trains can run faster without any worry of accidents.

A team from Indian Railways called the Research Design and Standards Organisation or RDSO for short, has made this system smart.

It’s all digital, meaning it uses computers and tech to keep an eye on the tracks and trains. They have fine-tuned the system so well that it runs smoothly, guarding our trains at all times.

Another cool part is the use of LTE technology, the same tech that makes your mobile internet fast. A company called Ericsson showed how LTE makes Kavach even better.

It cuts down the time the system takes to react, which is called latency. Lower latency means quicker reactions. This lets trains run at high speeds safely, knowing that the system will react fast if needed.

But what if the train is old, can it still use Kavach? The answer is yes! One of the best things about Kavach is that it can work with both new and old trains.

This is great for Indian Railways because they don’t have to spend extra money on buying new trains or upgrading the old ones just for this system.

So, the next time you hop on a train, you can sit back and relax knowing that Kavach has got your safety covered. It’s like having an invisible guardian looking out for all the trains on the tracks, making sure you get to your destination both quickly and safely.
