Kartik Aaryan To Portray Paralympic Gold Medalist In ‘Chandu Champion’

Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan is all set to appear in a new film titled ‘Chandu Champion’. The film is special because it tells the story of Murlikant Petkar, who was India’s first Paralympic gold medalist.

This movie, directed by Kabir Khan, is a sports drama and marks another collaboration between Aaryan and producer Sajid Nadiadwala.

Murlikant Petkar is a significant figure in Indian sports history. He won a gold medal in the 1972 Summer Paralympics held in Heidelberg, Germany. He achieved this in the 50-metre freestyle swimming event and even set a world record with a time of 37.33 seconds.

Petkar’s journey to this success is inspiring. He served in the Indian Army’s Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers and was injured in the 1965 war against Pakistan. Despite losing an arm, he didn’t give up and chose to pursue a career in swimming.

Petkar was also talented in other sports, competing in events like shotput, table tennis, slalom, and javelin throw. He even won medals in these events at the Third Commonwealth Paraplegic Games in Edinburgh, Scotland.

For his achievements, the Indian government honored him with the Padma Shri in 2018.

In ‘Chandu Champion’, Kartik Aaryan plays the role of Murlikant Petkar. Aaryan has put in a lot of effort to prepare for this role, undergoing intense training.

The movie also features other notable actors like Katrina Kaif, Shraddha Kapoor, and Manoj Anand. The film is produced by Kabir Khan Films, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, and Star Studios and is set to release on June 14.

Another project Aaryan is involved in is ‘Aashiqui 3’, directed by Anurag Basu, with Triptii Dimri as the female lead. The details of these films are eagerly awaited by fans.
