Karnataka Minister Resigns To Dodge Corruption Charges And Harassment Leading To Suicide Of Civil Contractor

Pulled into the suicide and death of a contractor, BJP politician and Karnataka minister K.S. Eshwarappa has put in his papers. He has also been pulled into a deepening controversy around allegations of corruption too.

Mr Eshwarappa has denied any link with the contractor’s death; yet he decided to handover his resignation to the Karnataka Chief minister. In a formal media statement, he has said, “His is suicide or a murder. This needs to be probed. There is no mistake of Eshwarappa. The guilty must be found and be punished.”

While exiting, he is said to have shown great confidence in making a comeback too. Right now, his forced resignation has also been opposed by his huge vote bank that comes from his constituency Shivamogga yesterday. His massive show of strength was accompanied by a huge convoy of cars accompanied him as he drove to the capital to resign.

Currently, political analysts believe this has been done to maintain the impeccable social image of the saffron party as well. Mr. Eshwarappa also said that his resignation is a way to set a benchmark for the workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who “should feel that they will not get power until they come out clean and innocent.” “All the workers, MLAs, and leaders across the state are calling and supporting me.

They expressed confidence that no BJP worker can commit such a mistake,” Mr Eshwarappa said while adding that he is sure of coming out clean in the “Agni Pariksha”. While Mr. Eshwarappa has resigned, the kin of the deceased has asked for his arrest. Apparently, the BJP member and civil contractor was under pressure of adhering to demands of kickbacks. So now, Santosh Patil’s relatives were saying that Eshwarappa mere resignation was never their demand. They demand a probe and his arrest. The FIR names Eshwarappa and two of his aides for allegedly demanding 40 per cent cut from the contractor to clear road project dues.
