Kargil Vijay Diwas 2022: The Toughest War Triumph In The World

The date of 26th July, 1999 is engraved in golden letters in India’s history. As on this day India won Kargil War, which was one of the toughest wars in the world.

Every year, the country honors the valiant soldiers who gave their lives to free the high peaks of Kargil from Pakistan’s rule by celebrating Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Every year on July 26, Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed to honor India’s victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War of 1999.

As part of “Operation Vijay,” the Indian Army successfully captured Tiger Hill as well as other outposts while fending off Pakistani infiltration attempts during the conflict.

In Kargil of Ladakh, warfare with the Pakistani Army lasted for more than 60 days, with India being triumphant.

We honor the hundreds of Indian troops who lost their lives in the conflict that Pakistan initiated on this day each year.

Additionally, other events are held all around the nation to honor the commitment of the Indian Armed Forces.

History: Kargil War & Kargil Vijay Diwas 2022

Since the 1971 Indo-Pak war, there have been a number of armed conflicts between the two nations. In 1998, both countries conducted nuclear tests.

The Lahore Declaration, which both nations signed in February 1999 to alleviate the situation, guaranteed a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir dispute.

Operation Badr was the name of the Pakistani invasion into Indian territory over the Line of Control. To force India to resolve the Kashmir problem, it was intended to sever links between Kashmir and Ladakh.

In response, the Indian government launched “Operation Vijay” and enlisted 2 lakh soldiers for a protracted conflict that lasted roughly two months.  The Kargil district of Jammu & Kashmir was the scene of this conflict from May to July 1999.

The conflict is thought to have been organized by General Pervez Musharraf, who was Pakistan’s army chief at the time, without telling Nawaz Sharif, who was the nation’s prime minister at the time.

Pakistani Army & Govt. Helped The Infiltrators

Kashmiri regions under Indian authority were initially captured by Pakistan. India’s response during the second stage of the conflict was to first seize vital transport routes.

Based on the information given by the local shepherds, the Indian Army was able to pinpoint the locations of attack. In the last week of July, the Indian Army and Indian Air Force helped to bring the conflict to an end.

The Pakistani army took part in the Kargil conflict as well. Pakistan has consistently refuted this, though.

However, other such data that emerged both during and after the conflict were sufficient to demonstrate that the Pakistani army had aided the infiltrators.

Let us remind you that Nawaz Sharif also visited Washington to request American assistance. Bill Clinton, the US president at the time, had turned down Pakistan’s request for assistance.

Victory declared by Indian Army

The mission was deemed a success by the military on July 26, 1999. But winning came at a steep cost. One of the valiant men who died during the Kargil War was Captain Vikram Batra.

India’s highest gallantry honor, the Param Vir Chakra, was given to Batra posthumously. The life of Vikram Batra was recently the subject of the movie SherShah.

According to Brock Chisholm, “No one wins a war. There are various degrees of harm, but no one wins.” The Kargil War had terrible repercussions.

Many fathers and mothers lost their sons, and India also lost a great number of valiant troops.

527 Indian Army personnel died in the Kargil war, compared to 357 Pakistani soldiers who perished. In this war, 453 civilians also perished.

Celebrations: Kargil Vijay Diwas 2022

Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrates its 23rd anniversary this year. The Kargil Vijay Diwas MotorBike Campaign was started by the Indian Army in Delhi.

Additionally, it is intended to host cultural events in Dras during this time. The program will feature the squad of Sher Shah. This show will feature patriotic songs and choreographed dance acts.
