Kareena Kapoor shakes her head when asked about her hikes fees for Ramayan

Kareena Kapoor Khan was recently in news for demanding Rs 12 crore for starring as Sita in the upcoming epic ‘Ramayana’. There were unconfirmed reports that she is charging Rs 12 crores for the large-scale movie that will be directed from the perspective of Sita, which would require long time commitment.

She was talking to an NDTV journalist who was asking her about the hike in fees and how various actors came in support of her to which she just shook her head. The reporter asked her about what is next for her and whether the reports about her demanding Rs 12 crore for the film were to which she said, “Yeah, yeah…”

People began to bring the actress down on social media, hinting that she is disgracing the sentiments of religion by hiking her fees for playing a religious character. She also received support from actresses like Pooja Hegde, Priyamani, and Taapsee Pannu.

These actresses had told another entertainment website that this is a sign of ingrained sexism that only women are criticized for hiking their salaries. They highlighted that if a man does the same, they would perceive it as a sign of his success and not arrogance.

“You’ll always read about this problematic issue of hiked salaries with women. But why not? She is one of the biggest female superstars we have in the country,” Pannu had reportedly said. She also questioned that no man would play a mythological character for free then why should an actress do it?

Earlier there were reports that exceeding her remuneration by twice the amount, the actress had demanded for Rs 12 crore when she usually used to charge Rs 6-8 crores for the Sita film.

The film required her to stay committed to the movie for nearly 10 months, which means that she would not be able to take on any other project while doing this epic movie. Having said that, it is crucial to note that the actress did not clarify anything on the rumour. The actress will next be seen in Laal Singh Chaddha, which also stars Amir Khan
