Jyotiraditya Scindia Flags Off First Flight of Akasa Air

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia flags off the first flight of Akasa Air from Mumbai to Ahmedabad. Akasa Air is backed by businessman Rakesh Jhunjhulwala.

Today, the first virtual flight of Akasa Air from Mumbai to Ahmedabad was inaugurated by Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and Minister of State for Civil Aviation Gen (Retd) V.K Singh.

General VK Singh, MoS of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Scindia, and Shri Rajiv Bansal, Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, waved off the inaugural Akasa Air aircraft from Delhi, which took off from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (T1).

In addition to Mr. Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, founder of Akasa Air, Mrs. Rekha Jhunjhunwala, Mr. Vinay Dube, CEO and creator of Akasa Air, and Neelu Khatri, co-founder but also senior vice president of Akasa Air, all attended the ceremony. Usha Padhee, joint secretary of MoCA, was also there.

Speaking at the occasion, Scindia stated, “Today’s inaugural flight marks a new era in Indian civil aviation history. We have witnessed the democratization of civil aviation for the first time in India thanks to the Prime Minister’s vision, energy, and foresight.

It used to be a highly exclusive business, but because of his vision, Civil Aviation has undergone an unprecedented transition in the last 8 years in regards to accessibility, availability, affordability, and inclusivity. I’d like to welcome Akasa Air to this new atmosphere, and I have no doubts that it will leave a lasting impression in the near future.

The Minister said, “India’s civil aviation business has seen a dramatic transformation over the past eight years. We have 425 routes that are seeking to reach 1,000 routes under the UDAN system, and 68 new airports that are aiming to reach 100 airports.

We anticipate 40 crore passengers to use India’s civil aviation during the next four years. It won’t be long before civil aviation, with rail and road transportation, serves as India’s transportation backbone.

Additionally congratulating Akasa Air was Minister of State for Civil Aviation (Gen) Dr. V.K. Singh (Retd).

Additionally, a video message from Shri Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, was sent online.

The Boeing Max – 8-equipped Akasa Air is the seventh scheduled airline under the SNV Aviation brand, with corporate headquarters in Mumbai.

All of the seats aboard Akasa Air’s single fleet will be in economy class. In the next five years, Akasa Air plans to increase its fleet to 72 aircraft, greatly enhancing India’s domestic aviation services.
