Jyothi Yarraji has clinched Gold Medal in Women’s 100 meters hurdle at Federation Cup 2023 Athletics in Ranchi. She posted a meet-record time of 12.89 seconds.
Jyothi Yarraji, representing Andhra Pradesh, emerged victorious in the women’s 100m hurdles event at the Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championships.
On the previous day, she had already set a meet record in the heats, clocking a time of 13.18 seconds.
However, she surpassed her own record on Wednesday, completing the race in an impressive 12.89 seconds to secure the gold medal.
Yarraji’s exceptional performance not only earned her the top spot on the podium but also surpassed the qualification standard set by the Athletics Federation of India for the upcoming Asian Championships in Bangkok.
The qualifying time was 13.63 seconds, and Yarraji’s remarkable achievement of 12.89 seconds clearly showcased her talent and form.
The competition witnessed Tamil Nadu’s R Nithya Ramraj finishing in second place with a time of 13.44 seconds, while Sapna Kumari from Jharkhand secured the third position with a time of 13.58 seconds.
However, they were unable to match Yarraji’s incredible speed and agility on the track.
Yarraji’s dominant victory was a testament to her skill, dedication, and determination. She exhibited her prowess in the 100m hurdles event and demonstrated her ability to outperform her opponents.
With this remarkable win, Yarraji has established herself as a formidable force in women’s athletics.
As the Championships progressed, other notable performances took place, including Tejas Ashok Shirse from Maharashtra clinching the men’s 110m hurdles gold with a time of 13.72 seconds.
Additionally, Punjab’s Twinkle showcased her potential by surpassing the Asian qualifying mark in the women’s 800m event, setting the stage for an exciting final scheduled for the following day.
Despite a brief interruption due to rain and a thunderstorm that caused a temporary blackout at the Birsa Munda Stadium, the competitions resumed after a 15-minute halt.
