Jyothi Yarraji Breaks National Record For 4th Time In 100m Race

Jyothi Yarraji became the 11th fastest Asian of all time as she covered the 100m race in less than 13 seconds. She has become the first Indian to achieve this.

National Open Athletics Championship: India’s top hurdler is clearing obstacles efficiently; on Monday, at the 61st National Open Athletics Championships in Bengaluru, she ran her 110m hurdles under the key 13-second threshold.

Jyothi set a new national record in the final race of her season with a time of 12.82 seconds. Given the direction of her development, James Hillier, her English coach, claimed that she had the capacity to run “scarily fast.”

Jyothi used to run 13.03 at Inter University in 2020 and had consistently progressed. At the National Games, a wind-assisted 12.79 prevented the record from being properly recognized.

Jyothi would complete her season on a high despite the track getting wet from a pre-competition downpour.

James Hillier, her coach, was pleased that the 13-second barrier had been broken. Hillier made a comment on the weather, saying that it wasn’t the best or the warmest.

It was evidently raining soon before the tournament, which enhances the performance.

Hillier thinks that despite the bad weather conditions during the National Games, Jyothi actually performed better. Jyothi has unquestionably become more worthy than the National Games.

Jyothi Yarraji said, “I’m happy about my consistent performance. Before the race, it was not about a record or beating someone.

I wanted to improve myself, apply good work here and today I did it. I want to continue races like this.

This is also fine, my back to back sprint drills worked very well. So I’m happy, the season ended well!”
