The film Jogira Sara Ra Ra is a mixup of storylines from different Bollywood films. It’s a story of a wedding planner who had decided not to marry ever.
The movie Jogira Sara Ra Ra, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Neha Sharma, has received a mixed review upon its release in theaters on May 26.
The film incorporates various plotlines from different Bollywood movies, which are clumsily stitched together.
Originally scheduled to release on May 12, it was postponed to avoid a box office clash with “The Kerala Story”, a decision that proved wise in hindsight.
The story of Jogira Sara Ra Ra revolves around Joginder (played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui), a small-town wedding and events planner who is reminiscent of Ranveer Singh’s character in Band Baaja Baaraat.
The film introduces Dimple (portrayed by Neha Sharma), who disrupts a wedding and seeks Joginder’s assistance in breaking off her own impending marriage. This sets in motion a convoluted journey throughout the film.
The cast includes Mahaakshay Chakraborty (also known as Mimoh), who plays Dimple’s prospective groom. Mimoh’s portrayal of an honest, overweight government employee draws comparisons to Shah Rukh Khan’s character in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.
The film also features references to Mithun Chakraborty’s Disco Dancer, but these moments are seen as slightly demeaning and fail to effectively connect the storyline.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s performance carries the film, while Neha Sharma delivers as per her character’s requirements.
Sanjay Mishra shines as Chacha Chowdhary, the head of a kidnappers’ gang, with a layered performance that leaves audiences wishing for a film centered solely around his character.
Director Kushan Nandy’s attempt to portray a small-town story is appreciated in the overall context, but the screenplay is criticized for being chaotic and confusing.
The film tries to pack in numerous twists and turns without allowing the audience to fully engage with the experience, resulting in an overwhelming amount of masala that spoils the overall narrative.
If you are seeking a departure from Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s usual roles, you may watch films like Photograph, which stars Siddiqui alongside Sanya Malhotra.
Ultimately, Jogira Sara Ra Ra fails to deliver on its potential, leaving audiences disappointed with the execution of its plotlines.
The makers of Jogira Sara Ra Ra, have decided not to release the movie on its original date. It seems they already knew that their Jugaadu film wouldn’t compete with the ₹200 crore success of The Kerala Story.
