Jagannath Puri Temple Heritage Corridor To Open For Public On January 17

The grand opening of the Puri Temple Heritage Corridor, also known as the Sreemandir Parikrama Prakalpa, is set for January 17th. This is a big event for the Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha.

The ceremonies started on January 15th with a special three-day ‘Maha Yagna,’ a religious ritual. Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb, a respected figure, began the rituals.

Key rituals include ‘Ankuropan,’ ‘Ankur Puja,’ and ‘Yajna Adhibas.’ An ‘Akhand Deepa’ or ever-burning lamp will be lit at the site. These ceremonies are important to mark the opening of the corridor.

On January 17th, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will officially open the corridor. He will walk through it and speak to the people from a podium at Utterparswa Mutt.

The Jagannath Puri Temple Heritage Corridor project is significant. It aims to improve the experience for those visiting the Jagannath Temple.

The temple, a very important religious site, is expected to attract lakhs of visitors for this event. Officials have invited leaders from 90 religious places across the country.

There will be a lot of heightened security to ensure everything goes smoothly and safely. Around five lakh devotees are expected.

The area will have a five-layer security setup, including many police officers and special arrangements for VIPs. The seafront will be guarded by the Indian Coast Guard and Marine Police.

The Jagannath Heritage Corridor Project has added new facilities around the temple. These include parking spaces, a Shree Setu bridge, and amenities like toilets and cloakrooms.

This project, completed by the Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation, has been handed over to the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration.

The opening of this Jagannath Puri Temple Heritage Corridor is a major event. It not only enhances the temple’s surroundings but also coincides with the coronation at the Ram Temple. The Jagannath Temple is an essential pilgrimage site, and these improvements are expected to make the experience better for everyone visiting. Now, visitors can also travel to the Puri Temple by Vande Bharat train.
