ISRO Celebrates Chandrayaan-3, Aditya L-1 Missions At Republic Day Parade

On January 26, 2024, during the Republic Day parade, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) presented a special display.

This display, known as a tableau, celebrated the Chandrayaan-3 mission’s success in landing near the Moon’s south pole, a feat no other country has achieved. The tableau also highlighted the Aditya L-1 mission, which focuses on studying the Sun.

The ISRO tableau showed a model of the Launch Vehicle Mark-3, the rocket that sent Chandrayaan-3 to the Moon from Sriharikota. It also featured the landing site, named Shiv Shakti Point by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The display included Vikram Lander’s touchdown at the South Pole and the Pragyan Rover, both significant parts of the Chandrayaan-3 mission.

An important aspect of the tableau was the emphasis on women scientists’ role in ISRO’s missions. These women have been key contributors to the Indian space program’s recent achievements.

The tableau also gave a nod to future missions, such as Gaganyaan and the planned Bhartiya Antariksh Station.

However, there was a setback with the Chandrayaan-2 mission. But after the successful landing, the Chandrayaan-3 mission became a huge success for India’s space exploration.

The parade this year had 25 different tableaux. Among these, 16 represented states and Union Territories, and nine came from various ministries.

They were inspired by the themes “Viksit Bharat” and “Bharat: The Mother of Democracy”. These themes aimed to showcase India’s development and its democratic values.

Apart from ISRO, Uttar Pradesh presented a tableau featuring Ram Lalla and a grand temple in Ayodhya. This tableau symbolized the consecration ceremony held in Ayodhya.

The Ministry of External Affairs also displayed a tableau. It highlighted India’s achievements during its presidency of the G20 Summit, showcasing the country’s role in global leadership.

Today’s Republic Day parade was a display of India’s achievements across various fields, from space exploration to cultural heritage, emphasizing the nation’s progress and its global standing.
