Israel Sounds War Sirens, Strikes Back Hamas, Palestine With ‘Iron Swords’

Hamas launched a full out strike on Israel to stem out Israeli violence on Palestine and Palestinians, and desecration of the sacred Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Israel is being urged to restraint after 22 Israelis were killed and hundreds severely wounded by Hamas’ strike, more than 2,200 rockets came in from the Gaza Strip in the morning attack. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) declared a state of readiness for war and sounded alarms in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Israelis and Palestinians have been caught in the war, as Hamas fired thousands of rockets into Israel. Palestinians fear a full-out Israeli military attack. The people of Gaza have expressed fear, and escalation, and killing of innocents.

Reports of clashes between the Palestinian fighters and Israeli security inside the Israeli settlements are coming in. And Hamas has reportedly captured a number of Israeli soldiers.

Hamas Launched Operation Al-Aqsa

Israel was caught off guard at 6.20am after Hamas kicked off “Operation Al-Aqsa”, to avenge Israel’s misdoings in the sacred mosque. Hamas said its “large-scale military operation” is in response to the desecration of Al-Aqsa and increased settler aggression. In recent days, thousands of Israeli settlers forced their way into the Al-Aqsa Mosque during Sukkot, a Jewish holiday.

Mohammed Deif, leader of Hamas’ military wing, in an official statement said the people are regaining their revolution. “We must set the earth on fire under the feet of the occupiers.” He called on Palestinians from east Jerusalem to northern Israel to join the fight and expel the occupiers and demolish the walls.

Hamas also expressed frustration at the spike in Israeli settler violence against Palestinians. However, the Palestinians fear more targeting by Israeli forces. Maha Husseini, strategy director of the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, said the Palestinians are anxious and worried. She highlighted that Israel does not need an excuse to launch an attack, but this will result in a large number of people being killed and injured.

Palestine Have Right to Defend Themselves

Mahmoud Abbas, the president of the Palestinian Authority, said the people of Palestine have      the right to defend themselves against “terror of settlers” and “occupation troops”. Meanwhile, European countries have condemned Hamas and shown support for Israel. France reaffirmed its absolute rejection of terrorism and its commitment to Israel’s security. Germany also condemned Hamas and said Israel has their full solidarity.

Meanwhile, Egypt and Russia called for exercising maximum restraint. Iran-backed Lebanese militant group Hezbollah praised Hamas.
