Is The World Ready To Buy Made-In-India Apple iPhone 15?

Apple has decided to sell ‘Made-in-India’ iPhone 15 on the very launch day. Is Apple so confident in India’s manufacturing quality? Is the world ready for this?

Apple has been manufacturing iPhones in India since 2017. They started with the iPhone SE and now they are ready to launch their latest Made-In-India model, the iPhone 15

The companies like Wistron, Foxconn, Pegatron, and Flex, are involved in manufacturing iPhones in India. The Indian government is supporting this initiative by offering incentives like tax breaks and subsidies.

Why Did Apple Shift To India For iPhone Manufacturing?

Apple and Foxconn had decided to move their iPhone production from China to India for 5 major reasons.

1. Tariffs

India imposed tariffs on imported electronics, making it more expensive to manufacture iPhones in China and then export them to India. By producing in India, they can avoid some of these extra costs. India is a huge market for Apple iPhones.

2. Geopolitics

The relationship between the U.S. and China has been a bit bitter lately. That bad US-China relations poses a risk to the flow of key technologies and investments between the two countries. Apple wants to minimize that risk by diversifying its manufacturing locations.

3. Growing Indian Market

India’s market is booming, and Apple wants a bigger slice of that pie. Making iPhones in India helps reduce shipping costs and makes the phones more affordable for Indian consumers.

4. Government Incentives

The Indian government has been offering incentives like tax breaks and subsidies to companies that manufacture electronics in India. That makes India an attractive place for Apple to set up shop.

5. Labor Costs

Labor costs in India are lower compared to China, which means Apple can save some money when it comes to manufacturing expenses.

What About Apple iPhone 15?

About the iPhone 15 – it’s the latest model from Apple. For the first time ever, Apple is going to sell “Made-in-India” iPhone 15s on the very first day of its global launch.

The iPhone 15 series includes four models: iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Users are expecting some fantastic upgrades, like major camera improvements and a faster processor, especially in the Pro models.

It is reportedly said that the primary camera’s resolution is getting bumped up from 12 MP to a whopping 48 MP in the non-Pro models. Plus, the A16 Bionic chipset, which was used in last year’s Pro models, will power these devices.

Another interesting change is that both the non-Pro and Pro models are switching to USB Type-C ports, moving away from the Lightning cable.

And, if you’re into photography, the Pro Max model is rumored to get a periscope lens, which means you’ll get 5x-6x optical zoom.

Will The iPhone Cost Less As It’s Made-In-India iPhone?

Historically, Apple has priced iPhones in India similarly to the U.S. market. Thus, the iPhone 15 will not be cheaper in India just because it is manufactured there.

Previous versions of the iPhone 13 and 14 were also Made-In-India, but they did not have lower prices compared to other countries.

The price of the iPhone 15 in India is expected to be the same as the price in the US, multiplied by 100. So, while manufacturing iPhones in India is fantastic, but it won’t likely lead to lower prices for Indian consumers.

Will The Launch of iPhone 15 In India Be Sooner?

Apple is planning to release the iPhone 15 in India only a few days after the global launch. This is because India is a big market for Apple and they now manufacture iPhones in India, making supply and distribution easier and faster.
