Indian companies are moving towards adopting artificial intelligence more post the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in India and due to the global rise too. According to IBM’s “Global AI Adoption Index 2021”, AI adoption was flat over 2020, but the momentum has picked up to the global Covid-19 pandemic.

Currently, nearly, one third of IT businesses are making a robust use of AI services.  What one can see, is that, with the Covid-19 kicking in and changing the landscape of work, there is an increasing need to use Artificial intelligence in customer service. It is looking like the need of the hour, when intelligent decisions are being needed to be made, in real time. At times, it has been observed that there is no time of human intervention.

As of India, IBM believes that over half (53 per cent) of Indian IT professionals have vouched for the fact that their company has accelerated its rollout of AI due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Indian IT professionals are also most likely to say that the pandemic has increased their focus on security and threats (43 per cent).

But India will continue to suffer from the problem of unreliability and lack of skill to handle the shift in technology. While AI is more accessible than ever, the annual survey conducted by Morning Consult also found that a lack of AI skills and increasing data complexity are top challenges for Indian IT businesses as much as an issue for the global IT industry. But the more acute issue is threatening literally 95percent of Indian businesses- fair, safe and reliable output of AI-enabled services.
