Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi & Tejashwi Yadav are alleged of providing jobs in IRCTC in exchange of lands, when Lalu Yadav was Railway Minister during the Congress govt.
Following the summons of former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD patriarch Lalu Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court in connection with the case, there have been some fresh developments in the IRCTC scam, also known as the land for jobs scam in the Indian Railways.
The Delhi Court has issued summonses to 14 additional defendants in the case, including Lalu Yadav’s daughter Misa Bharti, in addition to Lalu Yadav with his wife Rabri Devi, on March 15.
Initially, Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy chief minister of Bihar, and Lalu’s son were also connected to the issue.
The Delhi court issued a summons to Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family in the IRCTC land for jobs scam after the CBI filed a chargesheet against them and named many defendants in the case. The land for jobs scam case also featured Tejashwi Yadav, his son.
Lalu Yadav is accused of participating in the provision of jobs in exchange for land when he was the railway minister, according to the CBI chargesheet submitted in the IRCTC fraud case.
The Centre terminated the case against Lalu and his family in 2021, but it was reopened in December 2022.
As a result of allegations that job nominations were created in the Indian Railways in exchange for landed properties gifted or sold to the Yadav family in Bihar while Lalu Yadav was the Railway Minister, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is currently embroiled in a land for jobs scam.
As Lalu Prasad Yadav served as the railway minister from 2004 to 2009, the land for employment scam gained notoriety.
After the case’s specifics came to light, the CBI detained Bhola Yadav, who had served as Lalu Prasad’s officer on special duty (OSD) while the railway minister.
A number of persons were allegedly offered Group D positions by the Indian Railway in various zones in Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Hajipur, according to the FIR lodged against the Yadav family.
According to reports, the individuals had given or sold land to Lalu Yadav’s family in exchange for the jobs.
