Iran Twin Blasts: Terror Attack Kills 103, India Expresses Grief

In the city of Kerman in Iran, a very tragic incident occurred. Two big explosions happened near the burial site of Qasem Soleimani, a military commander who was killed in 2020. Sadly, more than 100 people lost their lives and many others were hurt in this event.

These explosions took place on the fourth anniversary of Soleimani’s death, and they caused a lot of worry and tension in the area. Officials in Iran are saying this was a terror attack.

The first explosion was caused by a bomb placed in a car, and it seems it was set off from far away.

The second explosion happened a little while later, and this was even more harmful because it occurred when people were trying to help those injured by the first blast.

Iran’s Accusations & Global Reactions

Iran’s President, Ebrahim Raisi, is very upset about these explosions. He thinks Israel is responsible and has warned them that they will face serious consequences.

However, Israel’s military and the US State Department haven’t said they were involved. And the fact is that Iran has a bad track record in such bomb blasts, terror attacks, and civil war.

Experts and a US official believe that this looks like a terrorist attack, similar to the ones done by ISIS in the past. Remember, ISIS had claimed responsibility for another attack in Iran in 2022.

In response to this sad event, Iran has declared a day of mourning. President Raisi also canceled a trip he was supposed to make to Turkey.

Soleimani’s Legacy & India’s Response

Qasem Soleimani was a very powerful person in Iran. He led the Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force, which takes care of Iran’s operations in other countries.

The US had labeled this force as a terrorist group. Soleimani was known for being very influential in Iran’s military actions in places like Iraq and Syria.

From India, there has been a reaction too. The Ministry of External Affairs, through its spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, expressed deep sorrow for what happened and showed support for Iran and its people.

They said they stand with Iran during this difficult time and are thinking about the families of those who were affected by the blasts.
