IPL 2021: Will Delhi Capitals Play Steve Smith and Marcus Stoinis in today’s Qualifier 2?

Sharjah – Wednesday is the Qualifier 2 match between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, which will decide who will play the IPL 2021 finals against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Dubai. DC fans expect to see them in finals. Well as they say in the game of cards, aces are kept for the final serve. Similarly, we are yet to find out, will DC play any of their aces, Steve Smith or Marcus Stoinis against their contenders in today’s qualifying match?

Stoinis has been resting due to injury in the first match of this season. Since then, he hasn’t played for the team, but DC might add him to the squad today, especially on a surface like Sharjah.

 The return of Marcus Stoinis against KKR in IPL 2021 Qualifier 2 would hugely benefit DC. He is an Australian all-rounder, bought for Rs 4.8 crores in the IPL auctions by the Delhi Capitals. 

Stoinis is a right-handed batsman with a strike rate of 137.85 and has taken 30 wickets in IPL career as a medium pace bowler. He has always lived up to fans’ expectations and delivered in style in the IPL 2020. He scored over 350 runs and took 13 wickets for the Delhi Capitals in 2020 IPL.

The second ace in DC’s cards is Australia’s, Steve Smith, bought at Rs. 2.2 crores. He is an all-rounder and leading run-getter for Australia. Smith is a match-winning player who began his IPL journey in 2012 with Pune Warriors. 

Smith has accumulated 362 runs in his première season. Talking about the Delhi Capitals team in an interview on the DC YouTube channel, Smith said that DC hasn’t performed their best yet and have plenty in store for the season.

Cricketing expert Gautam Gambhir has also called for batter Steve Smith to be added to the DC squad to play the part of a sheet anchor against KKR in Wednesday’s Qualifier 2. Smith is known to deliver and take on the opposition in challenging situations.

“Gambhir told ESPN Cricinfo, “Steve Smith exhibits an excellent play against a bowling lineup which includes both pace and spin. Along these lines, I would promote him at no.3 since DC need 140-150 on the Sharjah wicket.
