Indian Women’s Cricket Team Clinches Record-Breaking Test Victory vs England

Today, we are sharing a significant proud moment for Indian sports. The Indian women’s cricket team has achieved a monumental victory against England in the one-off Test match held at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

This win isn’t just any win; it’s a record-breaking triumph, marking the largest victory margin in the history of women’s Test cricket.

India, led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, put up an impressive performance, defeating England by a massive 347 runs. This surpasses the previous record, which was held by Sri Lanka with their 309-run win over Pakistan back in 1998.

The star of this match was Deepti Sharma, an all-rounder whose performance was nothing short of extraordinary. She took a total of 9 wickets in the match, narrowly missing the chance to become the first Indian woman to take a 10-wicket match haul. Deepti also played a vital role with the bat, scoring a patient 67 runs in the first innings.

England’s team, led by Heather Knight, struggled throughout the match. In their first innings, they were bowled out for 136, and in the second innings, they could only manage 131 runs.

It’s important to note that India managed to take all 10 of England’s wickets in just the first session of the third day, showcasing their bowling strength.

Another notable performance came from Pooja Vastrakar and Rajeshwari Gayakwad, who also played key roles in decimating the English batting line-up.

This victory is significant for several reasons. It’s India’s first win over England at home in 15 Tests and comes just before their next match against Australia. The team also set a new record for the highest run-rate in a completed innings in women’s Test cricket, with a strike rate of 4.09.
