According to Food Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey, India has so far sold 18 lakh tonnes of wheat to approximately a dozen nations since the ban was implemented on May 13.
The major winners from these have been the nearby nations of Bangladesh and Afghanistan. According to him, it was agreed to send 50,000 tonnes of wheat as humanitarian help to Afghanistan.
33,000 tonnes of wheat have already been exported to Afghanistan from this.
In Berlin, Pandey was giving a speech at a ministerial conference on the subject of “Uniting for Global Food Security.”
He claimed that while providing for its 1.38 billion citizens, India has always taken into account the requirements of the entire world.
“It is necessary to mention here why the Government of India decided to forbid the export of wheat,” he stated.
