Indian Railways Powers Up ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ With 45 Special Trains

Indian Railways has played a big part in making the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign successful. To help volunteers reach Delhi with Kalash full of mitti (soil) from different parts of India, the Railways ran 45 special Kalash Yatra Trains.

Not just that, they also took care of the volunteers by arranging welcome events, making sure they were safe, and even greeting them at the stations.

The ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign is not just about collecting soil. It also includes many activities like building memorials called Shilaphalakam, taking pledges, planting local trees, and thanking our freedom fighters and their families.

These activities happened everywhere – from small villages to big cities. The campaign ended in a grand finale on October 31 in Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present.

Talking about the scale of the campaign, it’s huge! More than 2.3 lakh Shilaphalakams have been built across 36 states and Union Territories.

Also, 2 lakh-plus programs to thank our brave freedom fighters were held. People planted more than 2.36 crore local trees and made more than 2.63 lakh ‘Amrit Vatikas’ too.

Indian Railways didn’t just stop at running special trains for the campaign. They also played a big role in spreading the word about other key events that are part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ (AKAM).

Through their large network that covers the entire country, they made people aware of important events like ‘Har Ghar Tiranga‘, ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’, and ‘Azadi Ki Rail Gadi Aur Stations’.

Indian Railways is not only helping people travel for the campaign but also did a great job in spreading awareness about other important events.
