The Indian Railway has decided to provide benefits to Ex-Agniveers as 15% reservation, fitness test exemption & age relaxation in railway jobs.
The Indian Railways has announced a significant reservation policy for Agniveers, offering them a cumulative reservation of 15 percent in non-gazetted posts through direct recruitment in various departments.
Additionally, Agniveers will receive age relaxation and exemption from fitness tests. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) is also considering implementing a reservation policy specifically for Agniveers.
The reservation provided by the Railways will be in the form of horizontal reservation, similar to that provided for categories such as persons with benchmark disabilities, ex-servicemen, and course completed act apprentices.
This means that 10 percent reservation will be provided in Level 1 posts, while 5 percent will be provided in Level 2 and above non-gazetted posts.
Agniveers will also be exempted from physical efficiency tests and granted age relaxation. The first batch of Agniveers will receive a five-year age relaxation, while subsequent batches will receive a three-year relaxation, in addition to the existing age limits prescribed for different communities.
The Railway Board has issued letters to all General Managers, instructing them to provide these relaxations and facilities in recruitment by Railway Recruiting Agencies from the open market.
This applies to Agniveers who have successfully completed four years of service in the forces.
The Agnipath recruitment scheme, introduced by the Indian government last year, allows 25 percent of recruits to be absorbed into the forces upon completing four years.
Horizontal reservation ensures equal opportunities for various beneficiary categories, including women, veterans, transgenders, and people with disabilities.
Similar job reservation schemes are being offered by central ministries, state governments, and industry bodies to provide suitable career alternatives for former Agniveers.
Agniveers who have completed their four-year service period can apply with documentary proof against Centralised Employment Notifications issued by Railway Recruiting Agencies for non-gazetted pay grade positions. Unfilled vacancies will not be carried forward, and any vacant slots will be filled from others in the combined merit list.
The application fee for open market recruitment conducted by Railway recruiting agencies will be charged at ₹250 for Agniveers who have completed their service tenure, with a provision for refunding the fee to those who actually appear in the written exam.
