Indian NRI Awarded Highest Civilian Award In Abu Dhabi

UAE has shown it cares about its relations with India, yet again. This time, it has awarded an Indian business tycoon settled in UAE with a top civilian award.  Yusuffali MA is the chairman and MD of an Abu Dhabi-based LuLu Group that operates hypermarkets and retail companies in many countries. 

He was decorated with a civilian award by the crown prince, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan along with eleven other individuals with Abu Dhabi’s top civilian award. The award recognizes individuals that have contributed to the society through their noble and charitable contributions. 

It has been UAE’s endeavor to appreciate and recognize the efforts made by foreign nations that have decided to make UAE their home.  Over the pandemic times, UAE has explicitly expressed its appreciation of India’s contributions in stopping the spread of false rumors on social media through fake accounts and communities that were trying to sow seeds of doubt and discontent amongst the populace about India and UAE’s relations. 

Speaking about the award, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi said, “The UAE’s values contribute to reflect the deeply held faith of our founding father, Shiekh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who believed in the kindness, humanity and generosity of people.” He called these men extraordinary, applauding their efforts to ‘practice these values daily through their noble and charitable work, making our country and communities strong.”

UAE places great importance in service to the country and therefore does not miss the opportunity to recognize those that make an active contribution in that field of social service.  The award was given away at a significant landmark of the country at the 10^th edition of the Abu Dhabi Award ceremony held at Qasr Al Hosn.

From origins in Kerala, Mr. Yusuffali has been in UAE for over four decades, working actively to contribute to the growing ecosystem of the Emirates. Currently, Indians residing in the UAE constitute the largest part of the country’s population.  Over 34 million Indian expats are estimated to be living in the UAE which covers over 27 percent of the Emirates’ total population.
