Indian Navy Rescues 21 Crew Members From Hijacked Ship In Arabian Sea

The Indian Navy showed great skill and bravery in a recent operation. They stopped pirates from taking over a ship named MV Lila Norfolk.

This ship had 21 people on it, including 15 from India. It was flying a flag from Liberia and was in the North Arabian Sea.

The ship told authorities on Thursday night that it had been boarded by about five or six armed people. This message was sent through the UK Maritime Trade Operations portal.

Brave Navy Rescue Operation

The Indian Navy got into action quickly. They used the warship INS Chennai, which is a very modern ship with guided missiles and is used for secret missions. This warship was already in the area to stop pirates.

On Friday afternoon, INS Chennai reached the ship. They sent a special team called MARCOs, which are marine commandos, very skilled soldiers, to board the ship.

These commandos made sure the ship was safe and helped the crew, who were hiding in a safe room called a citadel. This is a special part of the ship where the crew can go if there are dangers like piracy.

While this was happening, the Indian Navy had airplanes and drones watching the ship from above. These included the P-8I patrol aircraft and MQ9B Predator drones. They kept an eye on everything and made sure the commandos and crew were safe.

Crew Safety and Company Gratitude

The CEO of Lila Global, the company that owns the ship, thanked the Indian Navy and other officials for their quick and professional response. He also praised the crew for handling the situation well.

Restoring the Ship’s Journey

After the commandos made sure there were no more threats on the ship, the Indian Navy helped to get the ship working again. They fixed the power and got the ship ready to go to its next destination.

This successful operation by the Indian Navy has proved again that they are one of the most skilled and bravest in the world, to keep the seas safe. We witnessed the Navy’s commitment to protecting people and ships, not just near India but in global regions as well.
