Many people worked together to douse the fire. It was assisted by the ship’s crew, the firefighters from the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai, and other vessels that were sailing nearby. They worked through the night and managed to bring it under control by this morning.
After the fire had been extinguished, another mishap followed. The ship began to tilt to one side. As much as people tried to keep it upright, they could not do so. It kept tipping further and further until it fell on its side beside where it was parked.
The Navy has confirmed all safe, except for one young sailor who remains missing. Teams still search for this sailor and are hopeful for his safety.
