Indian Beaches Witness 200% Surge In Popularity Amidst Global Interest

Lakshadweep has become very popular, with online searches for cruises there increasing by 200%. Thomas Cook, a travel company, reported a 950% jump in Lakshadweep searches compared to December.

Other Indian beaches like Tarkarli in Maharashtra, Devbagh in Karnataka, and Radhanagar Beach in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are also getting more attention.

Even lesser-known places like Rushikulya Beach in Odisha and Half-moon Beach in Karnataka are becoming popular for their unique beauty and quietness.

This shift is not just about location. Travelers now want unique and personal experiences. This trend is especially strong among couples and honeymooners. They’re discovering that India’s own beaches offer amazing and unexplored holiday spots.

India’s unexplored beaches are attracting more tourists lately. After a recent controversy with the Maldives, Indian tourists are choosing destinations closer to home. Maldives ministers insulted PM Modi and Lakshadweep, causing a strain in India-Maldives relations.

Because of this, many Indians canceled their Maldives trips. Instead, they are exploring beautiful Indian coastal areas.

Online travel companies like EaseMyTrip even stopped booking flights to the Maldives. Indian celebrities have also started encouraging people to visit Indian islands, particularly Lakshadweep.

Meanwhile, the Maldives is trying to fix the situation. Eva Abdulla, a former Maldivian official, apologized to India for the remarks and hoped to end the #BoycottMaldives campaign.

The Indian government has been active in developing Lakshadweep projects. Prime Minister Modi recently launched projects worth ₹1,156 crore there.

These include a high-speed internet connection, a water desalination plant, and improved household water connections. There are also plans for a solar power plant and better healthcare facilities.
