The number of airline passengers reached an all-time high of 5 lakhs for January-April 2023. The Indian aviation industry is flying high at 43% growth.

The Indian aviation industry is experiencing a significant surge in passenger numbers, reflecting the remarkable growth and resilience of the sector.

According to data provided by domestic carriers, the number of passengers traveling by domestic airlines from January to April 2023 reached an all-time high of 503.92 lahks.

This represents a staggering annual growth rate of 42.85% compared to the same period in the previous year when there were 352.75 lakh passengers.

The month-over-month (MoM) growth rate between April 2022 and April 2023 also witnessed a substantial increase of 22.18%.

These statistics showcase the robustness and ongoing efforts to enhance connectivity and provide convenient travel options to citizens, positioning India as a global aviation hub.

In addition to the impressive growth in passenger numbers, the overall cancellation rate of scheduled domestic flights for April 2023 remained impressively low at 0.47%.

Furthermore, the number of complaints per 10,000 passengers carried in April 2023 was remarkably low, at around 0.28.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation attributes this achievement to meticulous planning, operational efficiency, and proactive measures taken by both the ministry and airlines.

The concerted efforts of all stakeholders involved have played a vital role in driving the growth of the aviation sector in India.

Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel, expressed his delight in witnessing the steady expansion of the domestic airline industry, emphasizing that it not only strengthens the economy but also connects people across the country.

The ministry remains committed to fostering a conducive environment for the aviation industry to thrive and continues to work towards positioning India as a global aviation hub.

The remarkable growth in passenger numbers and the industry’s commitment to providing seamless travel experiences highlight the positive trajectory of the Indian aviation industry.
