The Indian Army is currently conducting a rescue operation for tourists who were left stranded after a bridge near Chungthang in North Sikkim was swept away due to landslides caused by heavy rainfall in the state.
The operation is ongoing. The Trishakti Corps of the Indian Army provided aid to 300 stranded tourists on Saturday. North Sikkim experienced heavy rainfall on June 16.
According to recent reports, approximately 300 tourists are expected to descend from the towns of Lachung and Lachen.
The Striking Lion Division troops of Trishakti Corps were ready for another day of assisting tourists after working tirelessly the day before, according to a statement.
It was reported on Sunday that all 300 tourists were successfully assisted in crossing the temporary bridge to continue their journey towards Gangtok, according to a press release.

According to officials, the patient was swiftly transported by ambulance and stretcher to the nearest Army Field Hospital for additional medical attention.
In a daring rescue operation, troops from the Trishakti Corps of the Indian Army, along with personnel from the Border Roads Organisation, worked tirelessly overnight amidst heavy rainfall to construct a temporary crossing over a flash flood area.

The goal of this operation was to facilitate the rescue of stranded tourists. According to the PRO, the operation took place on June 17 and was a success.
Efforts are underway to restore road connectivity and evacuate tourists after they were helped to cross over a river. The tourists were reportedly assisted in crossing the river, and authorities are continuing to work on restoring the road.
