The Indian Army has adopted swarm drone systems which can be applied in offensive & defensive missions. Swarm drones have been purchased by 2 innovative Indian startups.
The Indian Army has improved its drone capabilities by introducing swarm drone systems capable of being deployed in offensive and defensive missions.
The use of drone technology in numerous recent conflicts throughout the world has demonstrated that it is a force multiplier in military operations.
Even in our environment, drone-related incidents have increased noticeably in recent border incidents.
The use of swarm drones in numerous recent conflicts throughout the globe, particularly in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Syria, the attack on Saudi Arabia’s oil reserves, and the most recent confrontation between Russia and Ukraine, has amply demonstrated their effectiveness.
Drones that are deployed in tandem with ground maneuver forces will be able to perform airborne maneuvers both during offensive and defensive missions, increasing the combat effectiveness of the ground troops.
According to a statement made public by the Indian Army,
“We need swarm drones to give tactical commanders a force multiplier capable of providing surveillance inputs, undertaking close reconnaissance of a specific area to confirm inputs received from other ISR resources, engaging diversified targets like vehicles, weaponry and air defense equipment, enemy command and control centers and opportunities.”
The swarm drone system is made up of a number of airborne machines equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) that can talk both to the control station and to one another.
The AI-based swarming algorithms provide the swarm drones the ability to autonomously divide up the jobs among themselves, find the target region, avoid collisions while moving there, and conduct a search of the vicinity.
By automatically identifying targets like tanks, guns, vehicles, and people and displaying them on the control station screen.
The drones’ AI-based Automatic Target Recognition (ATR) feature reduces the likelihood that the operator will miss any targets and makes it easier for the drone to be engaged by the appropriate kind of weapon platform.
