Indian Army Conducts Massive Attack Drill At China’s Border

The Indian Army has carried out a large-scale attack drill along the Chinese border in Eastern Ladakh. The drill involved tank formations, including T-90 and T-72 tanks, as well as BMP infantry combat vehicles.

The purpose of the drill was to prepare for contingencies where the Indian Army may need to take action against adversaries attempting to capture Indian areas using the valleys in the region.

The Indian Army is one of the few armies in the world that operates tanks at high altitudes, up to 16,000 feet. The decision to conduct such drills in Eastern Ladakh was made after the Chinese forces showed aggression in the region.

The Indian Army brought in a large number of tanks and armored combat vehicles to the area, which has large open valleys suitable for tank battles.

Previously, such drills were mainly conducted in the Punjab sector along the Pakistan front, as it was believed that only plains and deserts would see tank battles.

However, the mindset changed, and tank formations were inducted into the force in Eastern Ladakh starting in 2013-14. The numbers increased significantly after the Galwan Valley clash in 2020.

The Indian army has increased its tank presence in the Eastern Ladakh sector, which has open valleys conducive to tank battles.

The armored strength in the area has been significantly strengthened after the Galwan Valley clash incident in 2020.
