India Women vs Sri Lanka Women 3rd ODI Match Updates

The International Women 3rd ODI Match will be played in Pallekele between the Indian Women vs  Sri Lanka Women cricket teams on 7th July.

India will play Sri Lanka in the third and final one-day international of the series on Thursday, July 7, in Pallekele, hoping to win 3-0. The series is already 2-0 in favor of the visitors.

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led team has already won the first two games to clinch the series.

Shafali Verma, the first batter for India, stated that she has been focusing on improving her physical fitness and batting more singles.

After bowling SL out for just 173 runs in the first ODI, Shafali Verma (71 not out) and opener Smriti Mandhana (94 not out) put together a massive 174-run stand to help India win the second ODI by ten wickets.

Verma stated during a press conference held prior to the last ODI,

“We have to concentrate on our conditioning and taking singles when we play in ODIs. On that, I have been focusing. I observed a few of my matches and discovered that my singles play is lacking.

I felt that I needed to focus more on spinning the strike, so I did. In T20Is (against Sri Lanka), I did that by seizing singles of solid balls.

I wanted to play more innings. I want to better myself.”

The opener attributes adjustments to her formerly aggressive batting style to her time playing for Sydney Sixers in the Women’s Big Bash League last year.

She played in the middle order with players like Ellyse Perry, Alyssa Healy, Ashleigh Gardner, and Nicole Bolton after having a bad start as the opener. She remarked,

“I discovered that taking singles and then playing single-doubles might create a lot of limitations.”

The batter Shefali Verma and Smriti Mandhana, with whom she has batted 14 times in the format, have a terrific chemistry together.

Before their significant partnership in the second ODI, the pair had put together five fifty-run partnerships. Shefali claimed that the starter has her back both on and off the field. She further added,

“She points out my errors and areas for pair improvement. We have a strong rapport and love talking to one another on the pitch. We want to form more partnerships.”
