India Wins 4 Medals In International Sepak Takraw Federation 2022

India finished the International Sepak Takraw Federation World Cup 2022 match with 4 medals. The tournament was held in South Korea from 25-29 November.

Sepak Takraw is a team sport which is similar to Volleyball. But in this game, players can’t hit the ball with their hands. They can only use their feet, knees, shoulders, chest and head to touch the ball.

Sepak Takraw has been a part of Asian Games since 1990 and has been dominated by South East and East Asian nations.

India has shown wonderful progress in recent times and won their first medal in the 2018 edition of the continental event.

Sports Association of India (SAI Media) had tweeted on 27 November about the triumph of Team India over Malaysian Team.

“Indian #Sepaktakraw Team creates history by defeating Malaysia in the sport for the 1️st time. With this win, Team 🇮🇳 also entered the semifinals of Men’s Quad event at ISTAF World Cup, being held in 🇰🇷 (23rd to 29th Nov).”

Adani Foundation had organized the 20th Inter District Sepak Takraw Championship in India on 25th November. 

The 20th Inter District Sepak Takraw Championship, which lasted two days, was successfully finished in Chandbali, Bhadrak. 

The competition was put on by the Odisha State Sepak Takraw Association and the District Sepak Takraw Association with the help of the Adani Foundation, the Adani Dhamra Port’s CSR arm, who donated the sporting equipment.

The competition featured 12 district teams from around Odisha, including those from Bhadrak, Rayagada, Ganjam, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, and Kendrapara. 

The Championship featured two types of Sepak Takraw, including the regu event and the team event for both girls and boys. 

In the Regu competition, the Bhadrak district girls team triumphed, while the Khurda district boys (KIIT – KISS) team took first place. 

The Rayagada district Boys team and the Khurda district (KIIT – KISS) females team are still in second place.
