HAL Produced Aircrafts: India is strengthening its Air Force backbone as it takes over a massive load of 83 indigenously-developed light combat aircraft Tejas for at a cost of Rs. 48,000 crore (or $6.5 billion).
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, informed the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to the media.
To be manufactured by the Hindustan Aeronautical Limited (HAL), Singh proudly explained the self-sustained advanced technological advantage that India can show-off. Adding on to his statement, he said that, “equipped with augmented infrastructure, the HAL will steer LCA-Mk1A production for timely deliveries to the IAF.”
HAL has already put in place a second line manufacturing facilities at its Nashik and Bengaluru division, all to ensure timely deliveries to the Indian Air Force. As news travels of the Centre’s approval, HAL’s shares prices have surged over 13.5 percent.
For India indeed, it is a proud moment as the Union Defence Ministry admits that the LCA Tejas Mk-1A is a domestically designed, developed and manufactured state of the art modern fourth generation fighter jet. “It will serve as a potent platform to meet the IAF’s operational requirements”, added the ministry in its official statement. Indeed, its another step into Modi’s dream of actualizing the Atma Nirbhar initiatives for India.
Adding on to the development the DRDO Chief, Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy added that, “It is a great day for the Indian aeronautical scientific community and industry. Getting approval for the order of the largest quantity of aircraft ever is a big achievement and is the culmination of hard work of three decades.”
