India To Cover Entire Nation With E20 Fuel By 2025, Petrol Will Be ₹15/L

India has started rolling out 20% ethanol-blended petrol and aims to cover the entire country by 2025, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The government has connected over 190 million families with LPG and achieved the milestone of connecting every village with electricity.

India is also making efforts in green growth and energy transition, with plans to achieve 50% non-fossil installed capacity by 2030.

The country has seen an increase in ethanol blending in petrol, from 1.53% in 2013-14 to over 11.5% as of March 2023.

India’s Petroleum Minister, Hardeep Singh Puri, announced that by 2025, the entire country will have fuel stations selling E20 petrol, which is a blend of 20% ethanol and petrol.

The number of E20 outlets has already reached over 600, and the goal is to cover the entire country by 2025. The Ministry will also be launching a global biofuel alliance.

The government aims to achieve a 20% ethanol blending target by 2025, which is ahead of schedule as it has already reached 11.5%. Additionally, India has diversified its crude oil imports from 27 countries in 2006-07 to 39 in 2023.

Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister of Road, Transport and Highways, explained that petrol prices in India could be reduced to Rs 15 per liter in the future by using ethanol fuel, or E20 fuel.

He mentioned that 60% of cars would run on ethanol fuel and 40% would be electric vehicles. This would not only be eco-friendly but also benefit farmers.

However, currently, petrol prices in Delhi are around Rs 96.72 per liter. Gadkari also laid the foundation for national highway projects and announced other road projects in Rajasthan.
