India and Singapore have announced a strategic partnership to collaborate on education and skill development, with the aim of creating lifelong learning opportunities and a future-ready workforce.

During the visit to Singapore, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held meetings with Singaporean ministers to discuss and enhance cooperation in these areas.

One of Pradhan’s key meetings was with Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Lawrence Wong, ahead of the G20 Summit in India.

They discussed ways to strengthen the existing cooperation between India and Singapore, particularly in the field of skill development.

Pradhan also met with Singapore’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Gan Kim Yong, to explore avenues for collaboration in skill development and vocational training.

During the meetings, the Indian Education Minister highlighted the importance of vocational education as emphasized in India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

He emphasized that vocational education would be a key focus area in the partnership between India and Singapore.

The collaboration between India and Singapore aims to build a future-ready workforce, aligning with the objectives of the Education Working Group under India’s presidency for the G20 Summit.

The two countries have agreed to prioritize mutual interests in skilling, create new opportunities for lifelong learning, and collaborate for the benefit of their nations as well as other emerging economies.

Pradhan also visited Spectra Secondary School in Singapore, where he interacted with students and teachers to gain insights into the skills-based education provided in Singaporean schools.

This partnership signifies the commitment of both India and Singapore to address the growing importance of education and skill development in preparing individuals for the evolving job market.
