India Prouds To Celebrate 90th Indian Air Force Day 2022 On 8th October

The IAF is completing 90 years today. Thus India is celebrating 90th Indian Air Force Day 2022 today. Recently Prachand LCH (Light Combat Helicopter) joined the Indian Air Force.

90th Indian Air Force Day 2022

The Indian Air Force was established on October 8, 1932, and today marks its 90th anniversary. The day and its commemoration are a source of pride for Indians and ignite a patriotic fervor among the populace for the Indian Armed Forces’ air force.

The Commander-in-Chief of the IAF is the President of India. This year’s Air Force Day flypast is planned for this afternoon above Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh.

Significance of Indian Air Force Day 2022

The celebration of Indian Air Force Day honors the fighter pilots who put their lives in danger to protect their country.

Additionally, it serves as a demonstration of India’s military power to the outside world, notably to its neighbors.

History of Indian Air Force Day 2022

Since its founding on October 8, 1932, the IAF has taken part in a number of significant conflicts and historic missions.

It was formally constituted as an independent air force of the British Empire, which gave the prefix Royal to India’s World War II aviation service.

The Royal Indian Air Force continued to operate under the Dominion of India moniker after India attained independence from the United Kingdom in 1947.

The prefix Royal was dropped when the country switched to a republican system of administration in 1950.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) also had significant contributions to make during the Congo Crisis (1960–1966), the Goa Annexation (1961), the Second Kashmir War (1965), the Bangladesh Liberation War (1971), the Kargil War (1999), the Balakot airstrike, and the India–Pakistan standoff in 2019.

Celebrations of Indian Air Force Day 2022

The Indian Air Force has shifted the parade and fly-past of Air Force Day outside of the national capital region, marking a historic first.

Rajnath Singh, the defense minister, and President Draupadi Murmu will be present. The Royal Indian Air Force was the name given to the Indian Air Force by the British Empire on October 8, 1932.

Indian Air Force became the official name in 1950. 75 aircraft will take part in the flypast this time, while 9 aircraft will remain in standby mode.

At Sukhna Lake, the light combat helicopter LCH, which was recently added to the IAF, will also display its aerial prowess. The fly-by will also feature Tejas, Sukhoi, MIG-29, Jaguar, Rafale, and Hawk aircraft.
