The standoff between India and Chinese troops at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) has taken different proportions back home. The well known innovator and educationist Sonam Wangchuk has requested Indians to boycott Chinese goods, very much in tune with PM Narendra Modi’s initiative of self reliance and Made in India first.
In a video where he the Ladakhi education reformist has urged Indian people to boycott Chinese make goods, he believe, this move will give China the shake it needs to its ego. Wagchuk’s video from Ladakh drew over 20 lakh views in two days but he says that those should be converted into something concrete that would bite the Chinese government. Undeniably, the boycott could have an adverse effect on trade relations between the nations. Wangchuk believes that the Chinese people will not take the trade battering down silently and the government will be forced to mend its ways.
He insisted the people’s “wallet power” could be an ideal supplement for the army’s capabilities to safeguard our borders in Ladakh.
China uses an extremely regimental form of government where citizens are as good as slaves and the only freedom they experience in within the realm of trade.
Apparently, the US has tried the same tactic to put pressure on Beijing curtailing all its trade with one of its largest trade partners.

Currently, India’s trade deficit with China stands at a massive $56.77 billion. The bilateral trade between India and China was $93 billion in 2019 after it fell by about $3 billion as both countries experienced economic slowdown.
There are many industries which are winding up shop in China and moving towards more secure and greener pastures like Vietnam, Indonesia and India. Trade is already drying up for Beijing and a trade angle to the military stand-off could be the last grave in the nail for Beijing as of now.
