India Focuses On Pakistan After Afghanistan Break-Down In UN Security Council Meeting

Post the upheaval in Afghanistan, India has not minced its words to point out the wrongdoing in Pakistan when it comes to terror factions.

The External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar made it very clear at the UN Security Council meeting that terrorist groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) are not going curbed. The credit goes to the neighboring country aka Pakistan that continues to favor them.

The security council meeting was specially organized to discuss threats to international peace and security by terrorist acts. Mr. Jaishankar spoke openly and called on the global body not to take a “selective view” on the scourge of terrorism and to have the courage to call out the “doublespeak” of those who extend state hospitality to individuals “who have innocents’ blood on their hands”.

The minister did not mention Pakistan categorically but everything that he said seemed to have pointed into the direction of Islamabad.  In his statement, he further said, “In our own immediate neighborhood, ISIL-Khorasan (ISIL-K) has become more energetic and is constantly seeking to expand its footprint. Events unfolding in Afghanistan have naturally enhanced global concerns about their implications for both regional and international security. Whether it is in Afghanistan or against India, groups like LeT and JeM continue to operate with both impunity and encouragement.”

In 2019, the United Nations designated Pakistan-based JeM chief Masood Azhar as a “global terrorist”.

Pakistan has been encouraging terrorist groups in the past. It was known to have encouraged Osama Bin Laden at one point in time as well. It has been encouraged by Turkey that has now shown interest in helping Afghanistan as well.

Turkey has had an agenda to help any country with Islamic origins and could give it an edge over Middle Eastern nations.
