The surge in Covid-19 cases has reached to disproportionate levels. The country’s infrastructure is strained beyond imagination. India has reported a record daily increase of 2,34,692 Covid-19 infections over the last 24 hours. This has been confirmed by the Health Ministry.
It has also been confirmed that this is the eighth record daily increase in the last nine days. Total numbers of those infected cases have reached nearly 14.5 million, second only to the United States which has reported more than 32 million infections.
Currently, the advisory has put some strict guidelines in order to prevent any further spread of the virus. For starters, spitting has been complete prohibited and those found not wearing a mask will be fined Rs. 500. Further, in view of a spurt of Covid-19 cases, the Punjab and Haryana high court have asked for a temporary suspension of physical hearing of cases for an indefinite period.
However, political parties are not mincing words when they are saying that they are blaming the ruling party for not lead the country to such a disaster, despite claiming that the country had been preparing for a second wave.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Mayor has also declared openly that those returning from Kumbh Mela to their respective states will literally look like those who are distributing Corona as ‘prasad’. According to his official statement, all these people would be quarantined in their respective states at their own cost. It is no surprise then that a lawyer has approached the Supreme Court, seeking immediate strict directions to Union of India and state of Uttarakhand to withdraw all the advertisements inviting people to Haridwar for Kumbh, keeping in view the worrisome facts and figures of Covid-19 pandemic.
