India Celebrates 76th Indian Army Day 2024 In Lucknow With AI Technology

Today marks a special day in India, the 76th Army Day, celebrated with a grand parade in Lucknow. This is the second year in a row the event has moved out of Delhi, following last year’s celebration in Bengaluru.

Army Chief General Manoj Pande will review the parade and present bravery awards. The parade will feature impressive displays, like a motorcycle show by the Army Service Corps, skydiving by the Paratroopers, and a helicopter flypast.

A unique addition this year is the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to pick the ‘Best Marching Contingent.’ Cameras will record each movement, and AI software will analyze these for precision, under human supervision. The Indian Army and the Indian Government are also focused on modern technology.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Governor Anandi Ben Patel are attending as chief guests.

Indian Army Day, on January 15, remembers the day in 1949 when General KM Cariappa became the first Indian to command the Indian Army, taking over from General Francis Roy Bucher.

The parade, led by Major General Salil Seth, includes six marching units from different regiments, and a military band with brass and pipe bands. Units like the 50th Parachute Brigade and the Sikh Light Infantry will march.

Army Day honors soldiers for their sacrifices. Field Marshal Kodandera M Cariappa became the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army on this day in 1949.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Army’s commitment and sacrifices. The day reminds us of the Army’s role in protecting the nation and remembering soldiers’ sacrifices.

The event, previously held in Delhi, is now celebrated in different parts of the country for more visibility and local involvement.

The parade starts with a tribute at the Smritika War Memorial by Army Chief General Pande. He will also review the parade, present awards, and recognize units for exceptional performance.

This year’s parade is extra special due to the AI technology used for selecting the best contingent. This involves precise analysis of drills and movements, enhancing the fairness and accuracy of the selection process.
The country will always remain grateful to the great Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose who established the ‘Azad Hind Fouj’ for the country amid one of the most difficult situations. This was the first form of the Indian Army for our independent country!
