India-Canada Row: What Has Happened To Canada PM Justin Trudeau?

After India’s strong reactions, Canada’s PM Justin Trudeau has changed his tone and said, “Canada wants to maintain strong relations with India.” Justin Trudeau has acknowledged India’s power and its global significance.

He emphasized the importance of Canada and its allies remaining connected to India. Justin Trudeau mentioned that India is an emerging economic powerhouse and a significant player in geo-politics. He stated that they are committed to building strong relations with India.

Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is facing heavy criticism for making unsubstantiated allegations against India, regarding the killing case of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, an alleged Khalistani terrorist.

He said, “Despite the ‘credible allegations’ involving the Indian government in the murder of Nijjar, Canada is still committed to building strong relations with India.”

Pointing towards India’s growing influence worldwide, Trudeau said it’s “extremely important” for Canada and its partners to stay connected with India.

In a press conference held on Thursday in Montreal, Trudeau said that he believes it’s crucial for Canada and its partners to engage with India in a constructive and serious manner, given India’s increasing importance on the global stage.

Trudeau also mentioned that he has confidence in the United States to raise the allegations publicly against the Indian government during discussions between the foreign ministers of the two countries.

Trudeau stated, “It’s something that all democratic countries, all countries that respect the rule of law need to take very seriously. We are working very thoughtfully, very responsibly with all our partners, including the Indian government, to ensure that we have all the facts.”

Trudeau said, “India is an emerging economic power and an important geopolitical player. As we presented our Indo-Pacific strategy last year, we are very serious about building strong relations with India.

We are also making it clear as a country that respects the rule of law that it’s essential for us to work with Canada to ensure that we get to the bottom of these allegations regarding the murder of a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil by agents of the Indian government.”

Canada PM Justin Trudeau may be starting to realize that he made a big mistake by treating India as an adversary. Although he is still blaming India for the murder of Nijjar, he is once again seeking India’s help for the investigation.

Trudeau accuses India without any evidence and then asks the same country for assistance in the probe. This seems quite foolish; they might be the world’s first global leader to do such a thing.

Literally, I have never seen such a leader in my 10-year journalism journey. Firstly, it’s been three months since Nijjar’s murder, and Justin Trudeau didn’t seem to care about it during that time.

But as soon as he returned to his country after the G20 summit in India, he suddenly remembered Nijjar’s murder. Suddenly, he held India responsible for it. However, when asked for evidence, he didn’t have any.

Even after 3 months, he has no evidence regarding the murder. His accusation has been hanging for more than 20 days, and even today, when the world asks for evidence, he goes blank.

Trudeau is not only alienating his own people, but he is also facing criticism from many countries around the world.
