India Beat Kuwait In The FIFA World Cup 2026 AFC Qualifiers

India’s football team made a remarkable start in the FIFA World Cup 2026 AFC Qualifiers by securing a victory against Kuwait. This exciting match, which took place in Kuwait City at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium, ended with a 1-0 scoreline in favor of India.

The highlight of the game was the winning goal scored by Manvir Singh in the second half, a crucial moment that brought joy to Indian fans.

Kuwait, known for their strong gameplay, held the ball for most of the match. They showed impressive skills, especially in the first half, but couldn’t score against the Indian team. India’s defense, led by Sandesh Jhinghan, stood firm and resilient, reflecting the team’s determination.

During the first half, India had opportunities to take the lead but couldn’t convert them into goals. Sahal Abdul Samad and Akash Mishra were close to scoring, but their attempts didn’t find the net. Mishra’s chance came from a well-placed freekick, but it was not meant to be.

The prediction of the FIFA World Cup 2026 AFC Qualifiers match changed in the second half, with India showing more control. The moment everyone was waiting for came in the 75th minute when Manvir Singh, receiving a cross from Lallianzuala Chhangte, skillfully hit the ball into the net. This goal was a game-changer and ultimately decided the match’s outcome.

Kuwait tried hard to equalize, especially in the final minutes, playing with urgency and attacking relentlessly. However, the Indian team, dressed in their orange jerseys, stood firm and did not let Kuwait score.

This victory is significant as it’s India’s first win against Kuwait this year. Earlier, in July, both teams had met in the SAFF Championship, resulting in a draw, with India eventually winning on penalties.

Looking ahead, India’s next challenge in the qualifiers is another match against a Gulf nation. This game is scheduled for November 21 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. Additionally, India is set to play Afghanistan, which is also in their group.

The aim is to be among the top two teams in the group, which would secure India a place in the next round of the qualifiers and also a spot in the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

This win against Kuwait has certainly boosted the morale of the Indian team and its supporters. There’s much anticipation for the upcoming matches, where the team will strive to maintain its winning momentum.
