Our Indian women’s hockey team won the Asian Champions Trophy. They played this big match in Ranchi on Sunday. They played against Japan and won the game by 5 goals. None from Japan could score against us.
Our team played very well in the final match. Sangita Kumari scored the first goal. Then Neha, Lalremsiami, and Vandana Katariya also scored goals. Everyone was very happy with how our team played.
After the match, Hockey India, who takes care of hockey in our country, said they would give Rs 3 lakh to each player. They also said they will give Rs 1.5 lakh to the people who help the team, like coaches and others.
Our team was very strong in the games before the final too. They won against South Korea two times. First, they beat them 5-0 and then 2-0 in the semifinals. This means they did not lose even one match in the whole tournament.
One player, Savita Punia, was very important for our win. She is the goalkeeper. This means she stops the ball from going into our goal.
She stopped many balls from Japan. Even when Japan got a chance to score easily, called a penalty stroke, she stopped it. This helped our team win in the end.
