India at the Paris 2024 Paralympics: A Simple Guide

In 2024, Paris is going to host the biggest-ever Indian contingent at the Paralympic Games. Every bit of 84, this team is spread out among 12 sporting disciplines. How thrilling! They are going to rock the stage from August 28 to September 9, 2024. That’s about two weeks of sport at its very best.

What’s Special This Time?

The Indian contingent thus hopes for more than the medals in Tokyo 2020. The best of India’s lot will likely be seen once more in Sumit Antil, Avani Lekhara, Manish Narwal, and Krishna Nagar, most gold winners.

High Hopes for Indian Para-Athletes

India’s para-athletes are feeling very excited and hopeful. Why? Because they are racing in the same venues where recently Indian athletes claimed five medals in the normal Olympics. So, with 84 para-athletes, the largest team ever to be sent to the games, everyone believes they may well win even more this time. The athletes have worked hard and are eager to display what they have learnt. This success could encourage several other disabled people in India to take up sports.

What Will Indian Athletes Do Each Day?

Here’s a simple look at what Indian athletes will do on the first few days:

August 28 (Wednesday)

  • The games start with a big opening ceremony at night.

August 29 (Thursday)

  • Indian players will play badminton, swim, play table tennis, do taekwondo, and practice shooting and archery.
  • There’s also cycling on this day.

August 30 (Friday)

August 31 (Saturday)

  • Lots of different sports today: athletics, shooting, cycling, table tennis, rowing, archery, and badminton.

September 1 (Sunday)

  • Big day for badminton with final matches.
  • More shooting, athletics, rowing, archery, and table tennis.

Why is that important?

This is a chance for the Indian athletes to express their talents. They have struggled enough and want to do something that will make India proud. Each one of the athletes has a great story of how they came here.

How Can We Support?

We may enjoy the competitions in front of our TVs or on the internet. We can support our athletes and help them share their stories. This helps more people to learn about Paralympic sports and the amazing athletes competing in them.

Let me remind you: all these athletes are proving to us that nothing is impossible, it just needs working hard and believing in oneself.
