In Dhoni’s mentorship, will Virat win the ICC T20 World Cup title in 2021?

UAE– In September, the BCCI announced the appointment of MS Dhoni as the mentor for the Men’s T20 World Cup matches. The Indian Captain Virat Kohli said he is very delighted to have Dhoni as a mentor for the T20 WC season in UAE.

Kohli is captaining the squad in the T20 format for the last time; he completely trusts that Dhoni’s experience will help the team in critical stages through the World Cup.

At the pre-tournament press meeting, Kohli said, “MSD makes a positive difference when he is in a leadership role for any team. Pleased to have him in T20 World Cup; he will guide and help lift the spirit of the team members.”

“MSD provides with such useful inputs and intricate details of where the match is leading and where we can improve,” his tremendous experience makes much difference to the squad,” Kohli further added.

The T20 World Cup will be the last of the T20 format for Virat Kohli; furthermore, it will be a farewell for Ravi Shastri as team coach. The BCCI planning to sign Rahul Dravid as the next coach, yet before beginning the succession plan.

However, one clear benefit for team India is that due to the IPL T20 matches, all the players are familiar with the conditions in the UAE. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni has recently won the IPL T20 2021 title, and his years of experience in winning matches will benefit Virat Kohli and his squad. Moreover, analysts say Kohli would want to end his stint as T20I on a positive note.

On Monday, India played their first T20 World Cup warm-up match at ICC Academy in Dubai against England and won by 7 wickets. India is looking to finalize their batting order for the tournament after Wednesday’s warm-up game against Australia.

With Ishan Kishan playing a good knock as an opener, scoring a promising 70 runs out of 46 balls, it could allow him to be in the final squad. On 24 October (Sunday), India will clash against all-time rivals Pakistan at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the main event.
