The I.N.D.I. Alliance (INDIA bloc), a coalition of various political parties, is facing some internal disagreements. Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar and a significant figure in this alliance, was reportedly unhappy because he felt overlooked in discussions about who should lead the group or be the prime ministerial candidate.
Rahul Gandhi, a key leader from the Congress party, called Nitish Kumar to try and resolve these differences. It seems there was some tension because Mallikarjun Kharge’s name came up as a potential prime ministerial candidate, which surprised Kumar.

There’s also been some disagreement over renaming the bloc to ‘Bharat’, which Nitish Kumar proposed but was rejected by Sonia Gandhi from Congress.
Moreover, Nitish Kumar and Manoj Jha of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) didn’t see eye to eye, especially after Jha translated Kumar’s speech from Hindi to Tamil during a meeting. This translation was for the benefit of leaders from DMK, another political party in the bloc.
Adding to the mix, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) announced that they plan to contest 23 out of 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, which could lead to more challenges in the alliance. This decision shows a shift from the previous alliance Shiv Sena had with the BJP in the 2019 elections.
As for the Congress party, they are soon going to decide their candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and are working on their strategy to counter the ruling BJP and its allies.
Meanwhile, the I.N.D.I. Alliance is protesting at Jantar Mantar. They are also planning to protest nationwide against the suspension of 146 opposition MPs. This suspension happened because these MPs were accused of unruly behavior in the Parliament, like bringing placards and shouting slogans.
The opposition MPs were demanding a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding a recent security breach in the Parliament. However, their demand was right but their methods of protest were violating parliamentary rules and disrespecting its decorum, which led to their suspension.
The I.N.D.I. Alliance is going through a bit of a rough patch with internal disagreements and challenges in their strategy against the BJP, along with dealing with the fallout of the suspended MPs.
