The upcoming meeting of the opposition parties in India are going to discuss important strategic issues under their new brand name I.N.D.I.A.
According to sources, Congress chief Malikarjun Kharge is in the running to become the chairperson of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc.
Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister of Bihar, and Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal, are also contenders for the position of bloc convenor.
The ‘I.N.D.I.A. alliance’ is proposing to have four convenor positions, and this will be discussed during the meeting.
A new theme song for the INDIA coalition will be released, as the previous one was rejected. The new theme song will be in multiple languages and will incorporate the phrase “We, the people of India” from the Preamble of the Constitution. The coalition has agreed to keep the map of India in its logo.
The coalition is also discussing slogans, with some examples being “To defeat inflation, there is INDIA” and “To remove unemployment, there is INDIA.” The third meeting of the opposition parties is scheduled to take place in Mumbai from August 31 to September 1.
A coordination committee comprising 11 members will decide on the future of the alliance, and a common minimum program will be worked out. The alliance is also considering setting up a media cell and a social media cell.
Sources suggest that the leaders in the coalition may discuss selecting a main party leader who could become the Prime Minister of the country.
The elections will be contested on the objective of representing the common man and poor people against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Aam Aadmi Party and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal will be important partners in the alliance, even if the Akali Dal joins. The third opposition meeting will be held in Mumbai from August 31 to September 1.
The Congress party faced criticism for excluding Arvind Kejriwal, the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), from a poster featuring leaders of the I.N.D.I.A bloc.

In response to the backlash, the Congress deleted the original poster and released a new one that included Chief Ministers from opposition-ruled states.
The new poster was shared on social media platform X and showed Rahul Gandhi leading the I.N.D.I.A alliance.
The original poster featured photos of Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Nitish Kumar, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Mamata Banerjee, Hemant Soren, and Mallikarjun Kharge, among others.
However, Arvind Kejriwal was not included. The Congress party received criticism for this exclusion and decided to rectify the situation by releasing a new poster.
The updated poster included photos of Chief Ministers from opposition parties such as Ashok Gehlot, Nitish Kumar, Mamata Banerjee, Siddaramaiah, Pinarayi Vijayan, Bhupesh Baghel, Arvind Kejriwal, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Hemant Soren and Bhagwant Mann.
The BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla has commented on the opposition alliance I.N.D.I.A. that it has become a launch vehicle for Rahul Gandhi to launch him again in politics after his long failed career.
