A horrid crime against minor girl in Telangana’s capital Hyderabad involves youth from influential families. A 17 year old girl was gangraped in a moving car in Hyderabad – one person has been arrested. The police have added that three of the five identified are minors.
“Victim couldn’t reveal anything about culprits. She only revealed one name and special teams were immediately formed to arrest them. CCTV footage recovered. We’ve identified five culprits as per CCTV footage and as per the statement of the victim,” said police officer Joel Davis.
The crime in Hyderabad has created stir, triggering protests as children and grandchildren of state’s politicians and influential families are revealed to be involved in the heinous crime against a minor girl.
Police have said that CCTV security footage shows the girl standing outside the pub where she had met the attackers. The boys then appear to have offered her a ride home. But instead she was assaulted in the car in city’s upscale neighbourhood, Jubilee Hills. She was gang raped by the boys, each taking turns while others stood outside the guard keeping a watch.
“Her father approached us. According to whatever he told us we filed a case of outraging modesty and under POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences). He was not sure what happened, the girl was not in a position to reveal anything,” police officer Joel Davis.
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader K Kavitha posted on Twitter, “In the sad and shameful incident where a minor was raped, we stand by the family. I am confident Telangana Police will get to the bottom of it. We have a track record of Zero Tolerance when it comes to Women’s safety.”
