Hurricane Hilary Enters California Amid Earthquake And Heavy Rainfall

Tropical storm Hilary has hit Southern California, causing heavy rainfall and flooding. This is the first time a tropical storm warning has been issued for this area. The storm arrived shortly after a magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck the region.

Flash floods are expected, which can be dangerous for people living in deserts. The water doesn’t soak into the sand, so it moves quickly through narrow canyons and steep terrain.

The state of California has declared a state of emergency and deployed resources to protect against the storm.

San Bernardino County has also declared a state of emergency, as it is expected to be hit the hardest. The worst conditions are expected until midnight local time.

States in the US southwest are preparing for heavy rain and potentially dangerous flooding as Hurricane Hilary approaches.

The storm, which reached Category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson scale, is expected to weaken to a tropical storm before reaching southern California. It is currently bringing heavy rain and strong winds to the Baja California Peninsula in Mexico.

One person has died in Mexico due to the storm, and authorities are warning of landslides and road closures. Hilary is expected to bring up to 10 inches of rain to parts of Mexico, California, and Nevada.

Tornadoes are also possible in certain areas. The US Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has deployed teams to areas in the storm’s path, and the governor of California has declared a state of emergency.

The storm is considered to be one of the worst to hit the state in over a decade. Precautionary measures, such as sandbags and protective boarding, have been put in place in affected areas.

The Mexican government has deployed soldiers and utility workers to respond to the storm. US President Joe Biden has been briefed on preparations for the storm and ships and submarines in San Diego are heading out to sea for safety.
