The length of time required to get rid of a flea infested house depends a lot on the environment, and how long the fleas have been there. Prompt cleaning and using topical flea medications for your pet would get rid of the majority of the insects. How to get rid of fleas?

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends the following cleaning approaches;

  1. Using a powerful vacuum on the floor,upholstery, and mattresses. Cracks and other tight spaces are usually common hiding places of fleas and their eggs, larvae and cocoons. Use a good powerful vacuum cleaner to dispose of these without getting into contact.
  1. Employ a steam cleaner for carpets and upholstery including the pet beds. The combination of high heat and soap is the enemy of the fleas in all the stages of their lives.
